At first, it looks like that they are just high fed, the truth is they are not limited as much as we are; they have more freedom. A vast number of today's children from an early age are operating computer on a regular basis. Toys of my childhood were dolls and cars, modern kids have iPods, iPads and laptops to play. Because of all these gadgets and access to internet — unlimited source of information children in general is smarter than the previous generation was at the same age. They have more knowledge and skills in specific areas than previous generations. Actually, evolution of mankind is based precisely on the positive generational change. Children nowadays have a huge selection of choices regarding every aspect of life, which was not available to their parents, let alone grandparents.
They are effete with information and opportunities that are why they expect much more from life than we did. They have got the taste of it in virtual reality. Likewise, today's kids are often at an early age know what sex, alcohol, drugs are. The internet provides almost unlimited access to any information. I would not lie that my generation was not curious about such matters. However the only source of ban information for us were stories from other kids, which was not considered very reliable information. That it why we were afraid to try some things that modern kids do without a second thought,. They are not restricted by so many worries and fears growing up as we were.
When it comes to a woman it immediately triggered cultural stereotype. Women areas of expertise are house and kids. This was a sacred role of women for thousands of years and remains this way forever. However, in today's world, women are no longer satisfied with a purely domestic role. They rightly claim much more active role. Over the past few decades, this situation has changed dramatically: more women work as much as men and earn the same amount of money. The man in the family usually was the bread winner and defender, while the woman is the house and family keeper. Modern life is much safer and more comfortable than it used to be even a years ago. Today woman does not need man's protection or his money. In modern world women can and sometimes does earn more money than the man.
However, it is difficult to arrive at a final decision if it has a totally positive effect on the family. Economically speaking, it is much easier to support a family when both parents are working. Especially, in our time, financial stability is a very significant part of family happiness. However, there is the other side of this change. If wife starts to gain more money than her husband, it may induce a crack in relationships. Despite the fact that we do not live in the Stone Age male has an urge to be the main supporter of their families. However, if a woman is smart enough and finds a way to convince her man that he is still a leader no problems will occur. Another aspect that gets negatively influenced by this situation is kids. It is not a secret that children need mother's love in order to be mentally healthy.
Working mothers, unfortunately, cannot spear enough time to provide proper care after their children especially in the first couple of years of life babies. Women traditionally do all the housework by themselves. However, when they have started to work as much as men, household became a heavy burden. That is why most families split chores nowadays. These way men in the family perform housework, which used to be considered feminine. I remember that my grandfather usually came back from work have dinner and watched TV or read newspaper. I cannot recall a memory of him cleaning up or even washing dishes left alone cooking. He never looked after the kids or took care of them. No one expected him to act differently because his main responsibility was earning money for the entire family.
While the woman was in charge of the household and kids. In contrast, in my family, both parents do their part of the chores and participate in kids' lives equally. Father usually takes care of yard and garage, sometimes helps to clean up the house and washes dishes after each meal. When I was a child, he spent with me nearly as much time as mother did. I cannot be sure that all families nowadays are just like mine; however, I am confident that most of them are close in matters of family roles. To my mind these changes are very positive, especially for children. Interaction with both parents provides feeling of love and security for little creatures.
Despite all the differences in male role that took place over last two generations, there are things that will never change. Man was, is and always will be protector and leader his family. The most important decisions concerning family have always been made by man. Also, man is always problem solver. In modern life greater number of people finds benefit I civil marriage. Men are mostly guided by their desire not to lose their freedom and have the right to live their lives as they want it. Even though it is only an illusion because usually in civil marriages both partners are still having responsibilities which they fulfill. The only difference is lack of documents to legally establish that they are a family.
To my mind sometimes people have more materialistic reasons not to get married. Back in the days people were supposed to get married in order to live together and to be able to have sex. In modern life, we do not accept such standards anymore. So what is the point of participating in the contest when you can have the prize right away? There are not a lot of aspects of family life that get influenced by the decision not to get married. There may be some problems in order for the child to get fathers last name. If the couple separated, it will be very hard for the father to get custody.
In married couple, this issue is easier to resolve as both parents have at least some document that can prove their status. Also in case of an accident, one can make life saving divisions for his partner, unfortunately for civil marriages this right is not applicable. Nontraditional families now have the same right as regular families. It is not uncommon to see a same-sex couple on the street or in any public place. As single-sex marriages become more common in our world they face a new issue — kids. American dream family is two parents and two and a half kids. The best way for non-traditional families to fulfill this dream is to adopt a child. Other ways like artificial insemination or surrogate mothers are very expensive and not always successful. Usually on Sundays our kitchen table reigns rich cakes and plenty of sweets that are usually not there on the weekdays.
Slowly sipping tea, we share our impressions about the past day, listen to the advice of the elders in the family, and enjoy the flavor and quiet relaxation. I love these evenings. This soft light, warmth and comfort like a shield from the hassle of this life. Another tradition in our family, close to the previous one described, is gathering with all the relatives and friends on a Sunday evening after church. Usually we have about 30 people in our small house with only one living room, but we are gathering together any way. On this evening we always have a lot of food, mostly Russian, but sometimes we ordering pizza from nearby store. During this short and fast hours we as a young adults sitting and talking in the living room, while our parents sitting around the table loudly laughing and telling stories.
Often I hear from them stories about how we act and what we did when we wear small kids. The favorite story is that we were always together with my best friend Robert: we are best friends up to this minute. Our visitors never leave earlier than 11 Pm, which is really good, because it s always fun and iterating. This tradition started all the way back in Russia before I was born Another tradition is my favorite, on the eighth day of March we have trips to nature. Hard to say exactly since when it became a tradition in our family.
Early March — during the most unpredictable weather, and that day you never know what can happen. Every year a lot of fun and exciting things will happen this day; there might be wet snow, or the timid sun will peek through the bare branches of the trees, or the nature will threaten us with gusty and piercing winds. However, this is not an obstacle for a walk in the fresh air, and after a nutritious and delicious breakfast, we congratulate our women and present them beautiful and pleasant gifts. We always go out of town to enjoy the outdoors as it awakens from the winter sleep, and watch the first spring appearance. In the forest, we are trying to move more to us keep warm. If the land is dry we play soccer or other outdoor games.
Then we drink tea or coffee from a large thermos and eat the sandwiches brought from home. This is a wonderful tradition that our family strictly practices. Best and most valuable thing on the planet for humans is their family, and close relatives as well. Family traditions made to support each other, and to help in members needs. As a rule, family traditions are important in the life of each family and each family member. The maintenance of family traditions and conveying family history from one member to another is exactly what makes the family the solid unit, whose members feel close relations and unity. In this regard, I can refer to the experience of my own family, which like any other family has its traditions and history, which shape views and values of each family member. In fact, family traditions and cultural legacy affects consistently individual self identification.
Each family member is vulnerable to the impact of family traditions and cultural legacy since the early days of his or her life Walker, People cannot live in isolation from their family. As a rule, they start their life in the family and grow up in the family environment. Naturally, in such a situation, they are vulnerable to the impact of family. More important, they learn key values from the family and steadily individuals adapt those values to the extent that those values become their individual values. Anyway, personal views of family members are affected consistently by family values and traditions. In this regard, I can refer to the experience of my family and my personal experience.
My family has its own traditions which we observe and which are extremely important for us. For instance, if a family member is in trouble, we always help each other. The entire family unites its efforts to help the family member in trouble. This mutual support is very important for our family members but we do not consider that mutual support as something unusual. In stark contrast, we take the mutual support of family members for granted. Even when we are apart and have not seen each other for years, we will definitely help each other just because we are the family. We learn our family values and how they were shaped from the history of our family. The history of our family is shared between its members from the elder generation to the younger. For instance, I recall my grandfather telling me about his life and the life of his parents.
His wartime stories were particularly interesting for me because he participated in World War II and that was really hard time for our family. Also I recall his stories about the Great Depression, when our family was on the edge of survival. Definitely, I would tell the history of my family to my children and grandchildren just like grandfather did. In such a way, the process of sharing history of our family occurs, as the history is conveyed from an elderly family member to a younger one. Each family member learns to respect our family history since early childhood. We learn to respect values of our family and its traditions. In the course of education of each individual family member, he or she learns basic family values, while the family history helps him or her to understand how those traditions and values were shaped and why he or she should respect them.
For instance, as I learned the history of my family life in the time of Great Depression, I accustomed to take financial difficulties easy as provisional problems because I am certain that my family will help me as well as I will help my family and altogether we will stumble through the hardest time. However, the family history and values go far beyond the regular actions we perform or stories we tell each other or recall together Meinke, In fact, the family history and values are uniting factors that make our family members really close to each other. Our family history is our past and our values have been conveyed from parents to children, generation after generation. In fact, our family history and values make us feel being members of our unique but small community.
For instance, achievements of my ancestors make me proud that I am a member of my family and I want to make my children and grandchildren to be proud of me. The family history and traditions and family values help people to feel being members of the small community — their family. However, this community is probably the most important in their life. The maintenance of our family traditions and values is very important for family members because it helps our family to survive in hardest times. People attempt to convey their family history and family traditions from one generation to another not just because they want to tell each other noteworthy stories Fierstein, Instead, they want to share common values and respect traditions, which were important for their ancestors.
Thus, taking into account all above mentioned, it is important to place emphasis on the fact that family traditions, history and values are crucial for the formation of an individual cultural identity and personal values and views. The family is small but highly influential community, which people can never ignore. Custom papers you get from our writing experts should be used for research purposes only.
